HomeStreamTV Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how HomeStreamTV (the tvOS app) and HomeStream Server handle information.
1. Scope
This policy applies to:
- HomeStreamTV (the Apple TV app)
- HomeStream Server software used with the app
2. Core Privacy Model
HomeStreamTV is designed for personal media streaming from your own server.
- Your media library stays on your own devices.
- We do not operate a cloud media hosting service for your content.
- We do not require account creation to use the app.
3. Information Processed
Depending on how you use the app, the following may be processed:
- Device pairing information:
- Device ID
- Device name (if provided)
- Pairing status and timestamps
- Local server authentication data:
- A local auth token used between your app and your own HomeStream Server
- Token hashes stored by your server
- Playback and library metadata stored on your server:
- Library paths you add
- Media file metadata (for example codec, duration, resolution)
- Playback history entries (for example what item was played and when)
- Transcode status and generated thumbnails
- App purchase state:
- HomeStreamTV may use Apple in-app purchase APIs to determine Pro entitlement status
4. Information We Do Not Collect Centrally
- We do not collect or store your media files on HomeStream-operated cloud infrastructure.
- We do not require an online HomeStream account.
- We do not sell personal information.
5. Where Data Is Stored
- Most operational data is stored locally on your HomeStream Server instance.
- If you enable remote access, your device connects to your server endpoint. Routing and exposure depend on your own network and port-forwarding setup.
6. Third-Party Services and Platforms
HomeStreamTV may rely on the following platform providers:
- Apple (App Store and StoreKit for purchases)
- Networking and OS services required for app operation
Your use of Apple services is governed by Apple terms and privacy practices.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to this type of app, including:
- Local pairing and token-based server access
- HTTPS support on the server
No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
8. Data Retention and Control
Because HomeStreamTV is server-centric, you control most data directly.
You can remove data by:
- Deleting paired devices in server records
- Removing libraries and items from HomeStream Server
- Deleting the HomeStream Server database and files
- Uninstalling the app and server software
9. International Use
If you use HomeStreamTV outside your home region, your local laws may provide additional rights regarding privacy and data handling.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will include a revised effective date.
