HomeProof is designed to help you manage home inventory and evidence records. Depending on how you use the app, we may process the following categories of data:
1. Account and subscription data
- App Store subscription status and entitlement information, for example free/pro access.
- Transaction metadata provided by Apple via StoreKit.
2. Inventory and evidence data you provide
- Property, room, and item details, for example names, categories, condition, and valuation notes.
- Photos and scanned images.
- Receipt and invoice files.
- Warranty and reminder information.
- Optional notes you enter, including estate and moving notes.
3. OCR and AI-derived data
- Text extracted from images and documents, for example serial numbers, model numbers, dates, and totals.
- AI-generated item summaries and category suggestions based on your item content.
4. Device and app operation data
- Basic app diagnostics and local error information necessary to operate the app.
- Notification scheduling metadata for reminders you enable.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use data to:
- Provide core inventory features.
- Synchronize your data across your Apple devices using iCloud/CloudKit when enabled by your Apple account/device settings.
- Generate exports, including summary, detailed, and claim reports.
- Perform OCR on receipts, labels, and invoices.
- Provide AI-assisted classification and summary features.
- Enable reminder notifications.
- Verify subscription access and restore purchases.
- Improve reliability, security, and performance.
3. Where Data Is Stored
1. On-device storage
- HomeProof stores your data locally on your device using Apple Core Data.
2. iCloud sync / CloudKit
- If iCloud is available and enabled for your Apple account/device, HomeProof may sync data using Apple's CloudKit services.
- CloudKit data handling is subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.
3. Third-party processors
- Apple services, including iCloud/CloudKit, StoreKit, and push notification infrastructure, process data required for app functionality.
4. Camera, Photos, Files, and Notifications Permissions
HomeProof may request access to:
- Camera: to capture item, label, serial, and receipt images.
- Photo Library: to select or save item images.
- Files: to import receipt/invoice documents.
- Notifications: to send warranty and reminder alerts.
You can revoke these permissions any time in iOS Settings.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share limited information only when necessary:
- With Apple platform services required to operate the app.
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- In connection with a business transfer, for example merger or acquisition, subject to applicable law.
6. Data Retention
- Data is retained while you use the app and until you delete it.
- If you delete inventory content in the app, it is removed from the local app database and associated synced stores according to platform behavior.
- Subscription transaction records are managed by Apple under Apple's retention policies.
7. Your Choices and Controls
You can:
- Edit or delete properties, rooms, items, and attached records in the app.
- Disable iCloud sync by changing Apple iCloud settings for the app.
- Disable notifications in iOS Settings.
- Delete the app from your device. Note: iCloud data may persist in your iCloud account until removed by Apple platform behavior/settings.
8. Children's Privacy
HomeProof is not directed to children under 13, or the relevant age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. International Users
If you use HomeProof outside your home country, your data may be processed in countries where Apple or service providers operate infrastructure, subject to applicable law.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise rights requests, contact us using the details below.
